Question #1: How do I know when my car needs to be repaired?

There are some common signs and symptoms most cars will show that hint it needs repair. These signs include a check engine light, a tire pressure light, a brake or ABS light, or other illuminated dash light indicators. Most maintenance items will not illuminate a dash light indicator. Systems such as a vehicle's brake system can start to squeak, squeal, or grind without ever showing a dash light indicator. These are signs that your brakes need to be looked at for potential issues.


Question #2: How often do I need to change my oil?

Advancements in synthetic oils have increased the length of time needed between oil changes. If you run a full synthetic in your vehicle we recommend changing your oil every 6,000 miles. If you run a synthetic blend oil in your vehicle we recommend changing your oil every 3,000 miles. With every oil change done at Mahoney's you'll receive an oil change reminder sticker placed on the inside part of your windshield.


Question #3: What do I do if my car overheats while I am driving it?

DO NOT attempt to open the radiator cap on a hot vehicle. Serious injury may result. If you're in traffic make sure you're in a safe spot. Overheating a vehicle can result in major damage to internal components and cause costly repairs, and for that reason we recommend you contact your preferred tow company before calling us to set an appointment to look at your car.


Question #4: Is there a fee for diagnosing what repairs may be needed on my vehicle?

Every vehicle and every issue is unique so we recommend you call us to discuss if there is a fee associated for looking at your vehicle.


Question #5: Do I have to wait at your shop while my car is being repaired?

A majority of people just drop off their car in our care and go about their day while we do the needed repairs.

Question #7: What kind of warranty does Mahoney's Auto Repair offer?

We offer a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty on parts and labor.


Question #8: Do I need to call ahead and schedule an appointment?

We highly recommend calling us to schedule an appointment for your service.


Question #9: Do you sell and install tires?

Yes. We sell and install tires for almost any passenger vehicle and most trucks.


Question #10: Are you open on the holidays?

We aren't typically open during federal holidays but feel free to call us to see if we're open on a specific day.


Question #11: Are your technicians ASE certified?

Yes. Our technicians are ASE certified.
